This installation covers a Starlink satellite internet system at a rural property in Lower Wattle Grove, near Cygnet in the Huon Valley.
Rural properties and reliable internet
Lower Wattle Grove is rolling farmland and orchards, with homes spread out along the valley. Like much of the Huon, fixed line internet options are limited and mobile coverage depends heavily on where you’re standing. For a household that works from home, runs a farm business or just wants to stream without buffering, Starlink is often the most reliable option.
On a property like this, the dish usually has a good, open view of the sky. The main job is making sure it’s mounted to last.
What we did
We fitted the dish on a galvanised centre pole with two long braces spread out across the roof, giving it a wide, stable footprint. The tripod style mount keeps the dish rigid in the wind that comes up the valley, and spreads the load across more of the roof. The base and braces were fixed through the corrugated iron into the framing, positioned so the dish sits clear of the existing solar panels.
The cable was run neatly along the roof to a sealed entry point. Once online, we checked the obstruction map in the app to confirm the view was clear.
The dish was also placed so the cable run to the house is as short as practical. A shorter run is tidier, has fewer points where water could get in, and makes future maintenance easier.
The result
Fast, reliable internet for a rural home, from a sturdy Starlink installation set up to handle Huon Valley weather.
