This job in Bellerive was a combined installation, with a VHF digital TV antenna and a Foxtel satellite dish sharing one braced mast on the roof.
Two services, one tidy installation
Plenty of households on the eastern shore want both free-to-air TV and Foxtel. Rather than fitting two separate brackets in two places on the roof, it’s often better to put both on a single strong mast. There are fewer roof penetrations, less clutter on the roofline, and only one structure to check if something needs attention later on.
The setup needs care, though. The antenna points towards the TV transmitter, and the dish points at a satellite to the north. Both have to be positioned so neither one blocks the other.

What we did
We installed a galvanised mast on a heavy duty roof mount with braces running out across the roof, fixed into the framing for rigidity. The Foxtel dish was mounted on the mast and aligned with a satellite meter, then the VHF antenna was fitted above it and aimed at the transmitter, checking each channel’s signal strength and quality.
Both cables were run neatly down the mast and into the house, with every outdoor connection sealed. Inside, we confirmed a clear picture on both free-to-air and Foxtel before we left.
A combined mast also reduces wind loading compared to two separate installations spread around the roof. The braces carry the load of both the dish and the antenna into the roof framing.
The result
Free-to-air and Foxtel from a single, neat installation, built solidly enough to hold both in alignment for years.
