The antenna on this Lewisham roof had been up since well before Tasmania’s digital switchover, built for a completely different set of channel frequencies to the ones free to air broadcasters use now. It had limped along for years, but the picture had gotten worse and worse, dropping out most nights and pixelating badly whenever the weather turned. Nursing decades-old gear through another winter wasn’t going to fix a problem that came down to the equipment itself being out of date.
Matching the antenna to today’s broadcast frequencies
Rather than patch up hardware built for a service that stopped broadcasting years ago, we fitted a modern wideband UHF Yagi through our antenna installation service, tuned for the frequencies Tasmanian broadcasters actually use today. It’s the same fix we recommend for a lot of older properties still running original equipment from before the switchover.
A tidy bracket mount on a tight roofline
This home sits close to its neighbour, with the two roof planes nearly meeting at one point along the boundary. Rather than a freestanding mast, the new antenna went up on a compact bracket fixed straight to the roof structure, positioned to keep well clear of the gap and angled cleanly back toward the transmitter without overhanging next door.

A sharp, stable digital picture across every channel, running on equipment actually built for the signal it’s receiving rather than gear that was never designed for it in the first place.
