A View That Slowly Lost Its Signal
This Primrose Sands home sits high enough to look clean out over the water, and for years that outlook came with a solid TV signal to match. Trees on the block below have grown a long way up since the original antenna went in, though, and what used to be an open run to the transmitter had slowly turned into a picture that dropped out a little more each year, without ever fully failing in a way that made the cause obvious.
Why Height Solved What Trimming Couldn’t
Cutting back a neighbour’s trees isn’t always an option, and even where it is, it’s rarely a permanent fix. Through this antenna installation we took the antenna up higher instead, back above the new growth rather than trying to argue with it, which gets around the problem for good instead of buying a season or two before the branches catch up again.
Reinforcing the Mast for the Extra Height
Extending a mast well above the roofline changes the wind loading on the whole structure, so we guyed it properly on the tiled roof rather than relying on the bracket alone, and mounted it clear of the chimney where the added height wouldn’t put any strain on the flue.
The Result
A picture that’s stopped depending on how tall the neighbour’s trees happen to be this year, running on a system built with enough height in reserve to stay ahead of ordinary growth for a long while yet.
