A Living Space That Doesn’t Face One Direction
This Rosny home’s living and dining areas share one open room, with the main seating angled one way and the dining table set up facing another. A television fixed flat to the wall only ever looks right from directly in front of it, and in a room laid out like this one, “directly in front” depends on which side of the room you’re actually sitting.
Why a Fixed Bracket Wasn’t Going to Cut It
A full-motion arm bracket solved that by letting the screen swing out and turn toward whichever seating area’s in use, then fold back flat against the wall out of the way when it isn’t. It’s a different job to a standard fixed mount, with a heavier bracket and a wall fixing built to take the extra leverage of the arm extended, and it’s the kind of setup our TV wall mounting work is well suited to.
Routing the Cable Around the Corner
The nearest power point sat around the corner of the room rather than directly behind where the bracket needed to go, so we ran the cable down that corner in discreet clip-fix conduit to reach it, keeping the run tidy without opening up a wall that didn’t need it. It’s a straightforward approach that works well where the fixture and the power point aren’t on the same wall.
The Result
A television that actually suits an open-plan room, swinging to face the lounge or the dining table as needed and sitting flush against the wall the rest of the time, with a cable run that stays out of the way without any unnecessary wall cutting.
