WiFi that gives up at the back door
This Richmond property runs to roughly 30 acres, and the household’s WiFi had never made it much past the lounge room, let alone out to the sheds, the machinery or wherever the owners happened to be working outdoors. A regular router was never built to cover a block this size, no matter how good the connection coming into the house.
Two problems, two pieces of equipment
Getting fast internet onto a rural property and spreading a usable WiFi signal across 30 acres are two different jobs, so we treated them that way. A Starlink system handles the connection itself, while a separate long-range wireless access point, mounted on its own pole alongside the dish, broadcasts a strong signal out across the paddocks rather than leaving it to fade a few rooms into the house.
Two masts, one roofline
Both units went up side by side on the same roof, the Starlink dish on its usual freestanding tripod and the access point on a taller pole of its own so its signal has a clean, elevated broadcast path across the open acreage rather than competing with rooflines and outbuildings at ground level.
One network, one name, one password
However far you walk across the property, the WiFi stays the same network with the same name and password, handing off automatically between access points rather than forcing anyone to dig out a different password every time they cross into a new part of the block.
The result
WiFi that actually reaches the sheds, the yards and the far corners of a 30 acre property, running off a connection that has nothing to do with the copper network and everything to do with a clear view of the sky.
