This installation covers a Starlink satellite internet system at a home in Dover, looking out over Port Esperance in the far south.
Why Dover keeps choosing Starlink
Dover is one of the busiest towns in the far south for Starlink installations. Internet options here have always been limited, and for families, small businesses and holiday rentals, a reliable connection makes a big difference. Starlink works well in Dover because many homes sit on gentle slopes facing the water, which gives the dish a wide, open view of the sky.
What does need attention is the weather. Southerly fronts come straight up the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, so the mount needs to be solid.

What we did
We installed the dish on a short galvanised pole, bolted through the corrugated iron into the roof framing, with two side braces fanning out to either side. That gives the mount a stable, three point footprint that resists wind from any direction. Keeping the pole short kept the dish low and neat on the roof, while still giving it a clear view over the neighbouring houses.
The cable was clipped down the pole and run along the roof to a sealed entry point. Once powered up, we checked the obstruction map in the app to confirm a clear view.
Dover homes also tend to see salt air off the water, so we use galvanised hardware throughout and seal every penetration and connector. That keeps the installation looking tidy and working properly for years.
The result
Fast, reliable internet for the household, from a low profile, well braced Starlink installation built to handle what the far south throws at it.
