A view worth the exposure
This Primrose Sands home looks straight out over Frederick Henry Bay toward Sorell, the kind of open outlook that also means catching every bit of wind coming off the water. The old antenna had taken a battering over the years and finally gave out, bent out of shape after one too many blows, leaving the household with a picture that dropped out completely whenever there was any weather at all.
Building for the wind, not just the signal
A light-duty antenna picked for an average suburban block was never going to hold up in a spot this exposed. Through our antenna installation we fitted a heavier gauge Yagi with sturdier fittings, built to take the kind of wind loading that comes with an uninterrupted run at the bay rather than gear that was only ever rated for a sheltered suburban roof.
A firmer footing on the tile roof
We mounted the new antenna on the tiled roof with an additional brace back to the ridge, giving it a second point of support against the wind rather than relying on the mast alone, and angled it across the water for a clean run back to the transmitter.
The result
A picture that holds steady through the weather instead of dropping out or shifting out of alignment every time a southerly blows through, on equipment actually rated for the conditions rather than gear that had been struggling with them for years.
