This job was a Starlink satellite internet installation in Port Arthur, using a wall bracket instead of a roof mount.
When the wall is a better option than the roof
Most Starlink dishes we install go on the roof, but it isn’t always the best choice. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to work on safely, some owners don’t want extra penetrations through their roof sheeting, and sometimes the wall simply has the clearest view of the sky. On the Tasman Peninsula, where a lot of homes sit among trees, a raised wall mount on the right side of the house can work just as well.
The key is making sure the dish is high enough and far enough out from the wall that the building itself doesn’t block part of its view.

What we did
We fitted the dish on a heavy duty offset wall bracket, fixed securely into the building’s structure near the eaves. The offset arm holds the dish out from the wall so it has a wider view of the sky, and the bracket is rigid enough to keep it steady in strong winds off the water. The cable was run neatly down the wall and into the house through a sealed entry.
Once powered up, we checked the obstruction map in the Starlink app and confirmed it had a clear enough view for a steady connection.
A wall mount also makes the dish easy to reach for future maintenance. If it ever needs checking or cleaning, it can be accessed from a ladder rather than having to get up on the roof itself.
The result
Fast, reliable Starlink internet from a neat wall mounted install, with no roof penetrations needed.
